It was a very good day today for Brad Pitt, Global Green – and especially the Holy Cross Neighborhood – with the unveiling of "GREEN.O.LA". Brad toured the first of five single-family ultra green houses under construction on the site that's also known as The Holy Cross Project. He was joined by Pam Dashiell and Charles Allen of Holy Cross, Global Green President Matt Petersen, and project architects Matthew Berman and Andrew Kotchen for the official "board cutting" ceremony – along with many neighborhood residents, out-of-town guests and other well wishers.
The day marks an important milestone for the project. GREEN.O.LA is one of the first new home construction projects to be built in the Lower Ninth Ward since Katrina. The house, to be completed this fall, is simply the first tangible piece of an amazing complex that will include the single-family homes, an 18-unit apartment complex and a community center housing the new Sustainable Design and Climate Action Institute. It's also expected to be LEED Platinum, which Global Green hopes will serve as a prototype for the neighborhood and the Gulf Coast.
Roll out the red, make that green, carpet!
